On June 22nd, 2023, Bruce Jaffa and Mary Tougas gave a presentation to the Seward Community Foundation (SCF) at the Breeze Inn conference room.
Bruce talked about heat pumps in general, how they work, the fact that refrigerators are an example of heat/cooling exchange and that the Seward Heat Loop Project is very similar. Bruce talked about the location of the vertical wells for the continuous loop system that goes first to the Library Museum building where the commercial heat pump systems will extract the heat gathered from Resurrection Bay. A video made by Joevanhta Weddington, a member of the Ad Hoc Committee, a Seward graduate and UAF engineering student, was presented. The video describes the system and shows a drawing of the loop. A support letter was requested and has been received. Thank you SCF for your support!
